Hydronic Radiator Heating

Hydronic Radiator Heating can be easily integrated with the hydronic underfloor system.

What is hydronic radiator heating?

Hydronic radiator panels are a traditional method of hydronic heating that is one of the most efficient forms of central heating.

How does it work?

Warm water from a heat source is circulated through insulated pipes in radiator panels located throughout the home.  The radiators then transmit the heat from the water to the air by radiation and convection.  The cooler water is then returned back to the heat source for reheating.

Heat sources

There are a number of heat sources available however factors such as budget, site location, available utilities and project requirements influence the choice of the heat source.  Depending on requirements you may choose a single heat source or a combination of the following (hybrid system):

  • Wood combustion
  • Solar
  • Natural gas boiler

Advantages of radiator heating

There are many advantages of hydronic radiator heating.  Here are just a few:

  • Heats the same way nature does by using natural convection and radiation (the same feeling as standing in the sun on a cold day)

  • Able to be installed in existing homes
  • Radiators are available in a wide range of styles and colours to suit any decor
  • Can be combined with hydronic floor heating system and domestic hot water
  • Doesn't require a concrete floor
  • Safe to touch with a mild surface temperature of 55 degrees celcius which means it is safe for children, elderly and household pets
  • Low running costs
  • Minimal maintenance costs
  • Each radiator panel are individually controlled meaning living areas can be warmer than bedrooms and unused rooms turned off
  • No ducting, drafts or recycling air to spread dust or allergens
  • Silent unobtrusive operation
  • Heated towel rails
  • Heated towel rails can easily be incorporated into a radiator system adding a bit of luxury to any bathroom
